Slow progress in vaccination
In terms of vaccination, Austria is falling further and further behind the EU average. In this country, just over 60 percent of the total population have full vaccination protection, compared to 62 percent in the EU. Specifically – as of Tuesday – 5,712,830 people (63.95% of the total population) have received at least one Corona vaccination, of which 5,394,772 people (60.39%) have full vaccination protection.
Star virologist Christian Drosten warned in view of a lack of vaccination rate in Germany, which is, however, with 64 percent clearly ahead of Austria, on Tuesday of a winter wave. Vaccination refusers would have to be moved urgently to the inoculation. That is now a political task.
As of Tuesday, the vaccination coverage rate (fully immunized) is highest in Burgenland, at 68 percent. In Lower Austria, 63.1 percent of the population was vaccinated, and in Styria, 60.9 percent. After Vorarlberg (59.3), Vienna (59.1), Tyrol (58.7), Carinthia (56.9) and Salzburg (56.8), Upper Austria brought up the rear with a vaccination coverage rate of 55.5 percent.
